German Language.

One thing, which you should clear in you, mind there should not be any ambiguity in mind. To live in Germany German language is very very important. German is the language of instruction of German Universities, with the exception of some graduate and postgraduate courses which are held in the English or another foreign language or the International degree programs which some universities have introduced and in which courses are instructed in English, at least in the initial semesters.

Not a single university offers basic German Language courses. German Embassy will not give you visa if you have not at least basic knowledge of German language (Situation may be vary Course to course and university to university). Mostly Universities require DSH (language proficiency test of admission to Higher education) language test, which is test of Proficiency of German Language like TOEFL and ILTES for English. Some universities allow you to prepare for DSH test before continue their studies, but for that you should have 400-500 hours of lesson, which is equal to Basic Level 2(GrundStuffe II) or Basic Level 3(GrundStuffe III) of Goethe Institute. In Goethe Center Lahore the Basic Level 6 equal to Basic Level 3.

In Germany you have to talk in Germany at Taxi, at Market except some areas. I found that, Germans try to avoid speaking English Language. I met many people in Germany’s Chat rooms. Mostly will say that they can’t speak English but they can. The thinking of majority People in Pakistan is that, they will learn German Language at Germany except some exceptional cases. So remember,

German Language courses at Germany are really very very costly.
The cost is vary to University to University but language cost is round about in between 50,000 to 2,00,000 depending on your past German Language Skills.
So it is my friendly advice kindly learns German Language more and more here in
Pakistan as possible, it will be helpful for you in Germany both socially and economically.
You should start German language 6 month before applying in universities.
You should have at least basic level 2(GrundStuffe II 320 hours of study) or Basic Level 3(GrundStuffe III 480 hours of study) know ledge of German Language.
Level is not important university will evaluate how many hours have you studied before applying.
If you are working part time in German and your German is not good then Germans will pay you less with the lame excuse of nonproficieny of German language.
Further detailed information about requirement, you can find from universities Sites.

 Type of Degrees in Germany

This is really important concept about which mostly Pakistani unfamiliar. In following section I will try to explain, type of universities in Germany.

MSc Degree: Just like our MSc. But remember our bachelor holder student who didn’t have 4 years of Education cant admission in MSc. If you have done MSc already here in Pakistan then you are eligible to get admission.

Bsc Degree: Just like our Bsc. Our Fsc or FA degree holder cant get admission directly in Bsc Degree programs. If you have already completed your Bachelor program you can apply.

Diplom Degree: Kindly don’t confuse Diplom with Diploma. Diplom is quite different from Diploma program. The diplom degree is a professional qualification with the length of 8 to 9 semesters (4 years). This Diplom program equaling to the BA/Bsc or MA/ MSc. In diplom we study one major subject. The Diplom (FH) degree is a professional, academic qualification recognized throughout Europe and enables graduates to set up their own business in Germany and abroad even in regulated professions.

Magister Artium: Magister Artium is equaling to the Master Degree program. In contrast to the Diplom Degree, the Magister examination must be taken in two major subject and two subsidiary subjects.

State Examination (Staatsexamen): the staatesexamen is taken in subjects, which enable German graduates to take positions in the German Civil Service (teacher, judges, lawyers, Pharmacists)

Preparatory Course (Studienkolleg): the studienkolleg prepares foreign students for the assessment test. Pakistani students, who have done only FA/ Fsc and intrested to get admission in Germany at Bachelor level, first have to take admission in Studienkolleg. The period of Studienkolleg is 1 year. The language requirement of Studienkolleg is 400-500 hours of lesson of German language.

Admissions Restrictions (Numerus Clausus): Some disciplines are so popular that the capacity of study places can't meet demand. German and foreign students applying for these disciplines are subject to a selection procedure. Numerus Clausus subjects are Computer Science, Informatics, and Business Administration etc.

Zulassungsfrei: Courses other than NC called Zulassungsfrei(Admission Free). In these types of courses then admission given on the basis of First comes First Serve. In these courses you can get admission very easily. Some examples of ZF are Wood Crafting, Sport Science, Arts courses etc. You should ensure that your desired course is either NC or ZF.

Commencement of Studies

In Germany admission open two-time in a year.

Summer Semester: The deadline for Summer Semester is 15 January and classes start in April every year.

There are different courses for international courses so you should inquire about the deadline of the course.

One thing should remember, German universities receive application all around the world, so there is great rush but with little care you can get admission there. there is great rush in Business Admisistration and Computer science. Every one all around the worl want to get admission in CS and BA.

Firstly select course or courses relating to your past studies in which you want to apply. there are many possible combination of any course like for Computer there are about 20 combination of courses. Try to enquire from concerning university that your desired course has either NC or FZ.

Then select universities or Fachhochschule(
University of Applied Science) round about 10.

Try to send application as soon as possible before 15 January or 15 July.Kindly inquire from university about the deadline of your course. Some international courses have different deadline.

There is no application-processing fee in
Germany.

I observed all students those have no background in Computer want to apply in Informatics. Try to apply in you relative course. This will make easy to get admission in
Germany and also for getting VISA.

Your all degrees should be attested from Notary Public.  Kindly inquire from university about the list of documents needed for application processing.
There are about 300 universities in
Germany so try to apply in small universities or Fachhochule.
If any one have 4 year of Bachelor degree or Master degree or more than 120 credit hours of study,  can apply in International Courses in Engineering.
Other wise don’t think about it.
Try to apply in Diplom Program.
Try to apply in those Universities where German language has been offered.
Do not apply in Main University because there is great rush in main universities like Frankfurt, Berlin, Hamburg, and Hannover etc.
Those students who have 3 year of education can apply in Bachelor Program. But they can apply in non-engineering Master courses. Kindly ask from Foreign office about the acceptability of your courses.
